Plus, it's discounted price tag will bring in a lot of potential buyers. This being a PC port, I imagine this will be patched soon, and I also imagine that this game will do very well on the Xbox marketplace. This is the Xbox One version of the game, and I haven't ran into any glitches, but I've had several crashes. There is a story here that gradually unwinds as later sectors are reached, but it isn't particularly interesting and really just gives a loose premise on how the playable character can get blown into oblivion and still keep coming back. The game is beautiful and the environments become more and more inhabited as you progress with factions blowing each other up in the distance that can either be joined, or looted once the battle is over. This game really is something special, and I'm really surprised that I hadn't heard of it before yesterday. Everspace fits a certain niche of game that is highly addictive and rewarding once the learning obstacle has been passed. I imagine that it will take me several more runs to make it all the way to the end. At the time of writing this, I've only made it to the 4th sector out of 7, so I can't say too much about the later half of the game. This leads to tense moments when your life support system is slowly draining all while you desperately search the current system for necessary items to fix it. ![]() The ship will be subject to standard hull damage, as well as damage to specific parts of the ship that will stay crippled until repaired with collected items. Ship maintenance will be necessary during runs in order to keep moving forward. After a while you will be able to hold your own, and will be more capable of surviving more battles. Be prepared to be slaughtered early on in your career by small groups of ships, as it's easy for even low level drones to annihilate your health bar and shields with just a few bursts of laser and gattling gun fire. Many times when jumping to a new area, the player will be thrust into a fire fight with opposing factions, each time with more skilled pilots with increased fire power. Gameplay in Everspace is really divided into 2 main parts: exploring each sector for valuable resources that are used for crafting/trading/repairing, and dog fighting. All of these upgrades will be needed in order to last long in one of the many firefights that will be encountered while jumping from sector to sector. Blue prints may also be obtained for crafting items that will be fitted to the ship in between runs. Credits are not the only source for ship upgrades either many of the most essential upgrades are procedurally generated in the world and will have to be equipped on the spot or salvaged in order to be utilized during the run. This hub is also where you can customize the ship's color, and loadouts. ![]() ![]() These vary from energy upgrades that are needed to power the ships weapons, defenses, and boosters, to making it easier to find rare loot or credits in future runs. As like other games in the rogue-like genre (or in this case, rogue-lite), progression is based on the players ability to collect the necessary supplies credits to upgrade their ship in between runs. Little did I know that my first few runs of this game were spent dying almost immediately. I sank quite a bit of time in the game Elite: Dangerous and have been waiting for another chance to get back into a cockpit and blast other ships into stardust. ![]() I'm a big fan of rouge-like games, as well as the space shooters, so this was right in my wheelhouse. This gem popped onto the Xbox store out of nowhere and was able to hook me in immediately. I'm a big fan of Wow, talk about a surprise.
